Hiran, (insidesomalia.org)-The governor of Hiran province in central Somalia Yusuf Ahmed Hagar known as 'Daba-ged' accused some of the businessmen in the region of supporting the opposition groups, reports say on late Saturday.
In a press conference held in Beledweyn, the provincial capital of Hiran, Mr.Ahmed said the businessmen in the region are responsible for the attacks on the region's government troops.
"We are aware of that some of the business people give fund to the rebel groups those target the positions of our troops," Ahmed told reporters yesterday. "They are even regrouping militants to launch attacks on the government interests,"
Mr.Ahmed vowed to take tough measures against the people backing the rebels.
"We will crack down the militants in the region and will not allow them to move freely. All the remnants of the ousted Islamic Courts will be killed and jailed," said Ahmed.
The governor also said his authority is determined to clean all the roadblocks scattered in the region and restore peace and stability.
Beledweyn, 335km north of the Somalia capital Mogadishu, had seen violence in which several local officials were killed.
The Islamist groups claimed the responsibility for the killings in the region.
